    Effects Of Elements On Plant
    ( 2024) Mehmet Atay ; Murat Karaca
Plant nutrients are essential nutrients necessary for plants to develop and grow normally and are classified as macro and micro elements. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, calcium and magnesium are macro nutrients, while boron, chlorine, molybdenum, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, aluminum, cobalt, sodium, nickel and silicon are micronutrients necessary for plant growth. There is a relationship between plant nutrients and disease causing agents in plants and this relationship has a complex structure. Different types of fungal, bacterial and viral disease agents are present in all areas of crop production and all nutrients support plant growth and affect the susceptibility of the plant to various pathogens in these areas. If plants do not receive adequate amounts of nutrients, their resistance is generally reduced and they are more susceptible to various disease agents. Not all macro and micronutrients have the same effect on disease agents. For example, nitrogen, an important macronutrient, can support the development of one disease agent while inhibiting or reducing the development of another disease agent. Similarly, micronutrients can affect the integrity of the plant cell wall and membrane and have a toxic effect directly on the disease agents, thereby reducing the penetration of the disease agents into the plant and reducing the severity of infection. Various studies have been conducted on the effects of plant nutrients on plant diseases and it can be said that appropriate nutrition programs to be made by taking these effects into consideration will have important contributions to reduce the negative effects of many diseases. In this review, the effects of plant nutrients on the development of plant disease agents are generally discussed.
